i never thought 34 would feel this way. back in my 20's when i would think about someone in their 30's...i thought it was so "grown up". i don't feel so "grown up". yes, i have children, a husband, a house to keep, etc....but i still feel so young in my heart. now, this can be a good thing...yet it can be a bad thing too! but i won't go into that right now.
so my birthday weekend (i like to spread out the celebration of my birthday as long as possible!) started with the day before (Oct 18). we went to a friend's house for a play date and made these fun spider cookies.

then friday was my birthday (Oct. 19). my mom ended up coming for the day. she took me and evan to lunch. rusty took some time off of work and while my mom/dad kept the kids, we went to the mall and to dinner and then for coffee. it was nice having several hours away together!
the day after my birthday, we left that morning for a drive to Rome, Georgia where our college alma mater is...
Berry College. first we met some friends for lunch. (rusty went to high school with "
jmom"). we met their triplets for the first time and they are even more adorable in person! here are my kids outside the
Harvest Moon Cafe after we ate a yummy lunch.

then we went to Berry to drive around the campus. first we showed the kids where mommy and daddy got married. they were very excited about seeing the inside of the chapel, but there was a wedding going on so we couldn't go in.

then we drove to the Ford buildings where i spent 3 years of my college life. we walked inside one of the dorms and went to my junior year 2nd West Mary dorm room where amy and katie lived 2 doors down. it brought back LOTS of memories and was a little weird being there 13 years later!

this is the Clara archway looking onto the Ford reflection pool. i could never tire of the beautiful architecture at Berry. it's truly stunning.

ella thought this looked like a castle. i explained to her that it was the Ford dining hall where mommy and daddy went to many school dances!

another view through the archway looking onto Clara bowl.
then we drove to mountain campus and had fun seeing a number of deer and driving to the Old Mill. ella kept saying "i love berry college". we are so proud :)

after that, we went back to our friends house to get ready for the wedding we were attending. we got this quick picture before we left and barely made it to the chapel in time! the kids did well at the wedding...other than evan's gas that he let fly on the wooden pews and his hiccups!!

it was challenging getting all 5 kids to smile...this was the best one we got!
